Fairlight Cmi Vst Free
Jun 20, 2019 Thanks to the exotic sounding of digital samples, the promise of a universal digital workstation and physical design right from a science fiction film, Fairlight CMI was the object of desire for most 80 keyboard players who respect themselves. Countless musicians and producers weighed the risks of bank robbery to afford it. Today it is not. This awesome Fairlight CMI sample library originated from a VSE forum post located here. The poster put all the files up on a sendspace account but were all broken up into separate files, so it took quite a while to download all the samples from the multiple sendspace pages.
The sound heard around the world
Many cutting edge ‘80s songs were fueled by the equally cutting edge sounds of the CMI. Now you can relive the glory days of MTV.
You know the sound of the CMI because it was everywhere—and still is. Consider the ear candy on Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill”. The rhythmic frenzy of Herbie Hancock’s “Rockit”. Peter Gabriel’s exotic “Sledgehammer” shakuhachi. The impossible horn line on Yes’ “Owner of a Lonely Heart”. The breathy vocal-flute on Tears for Fears’ “Shout” and “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”. Trevor Horn’s pulsing Page R bottom-end collage on “Relax” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Speaking of Hollywood, there’s Duran Duran’s “View to a Kill” Bond theme. How about Jan Hammer’s pitch-processed drums on his weekly “Miami Vice” TV scores? And MTV favs like “Close (to the Edit)” by Art of Noise and Yello’s “Oh, Yeah” are poster children for all things CMI.
Whether for cover-gig authenticity or just basking in nostalgia, CMI V delivers the fun novelty of songs that still fill the classic rock airwaves.
Developer Aly James shared this sneak preview of Samplight 2X+ VST, which models and builds upon the Fairlight CMI IIX.

“All the quirks of the original are there,” says James. “There were some refinement on the usability, but do not expect a super fast modern workflow, I tried to kept it as close as can be for a reason!”
The virtual instrument is currently in development. Here’s what James has to say about the current state of Samplight:
What is currently done:

PAGE 2 – DISK CONTROL(done: load and save real original .VC files and attached .CO files, version 4.3 and 4.4 including MODE 1 params aka FFT, loading .IN aka Instruments files is in the works..)

PAGE 3 KEYBOARD CONTROL(almost done)
PAGE 4 HARMONIC ENVELOPES(done)
PAGE 5 WAVEFORM GENERATION(done but needs some additional GUI work)
PAGE 6 WAVEFORM DRAWING(done but needs some more work)
PAGE 7 CONTROL PARAMETERS(done)
PAGE 8 SOUND SAMPLING(done, include importing .WAV Files for resampling through the emulated circuitry)
PAGE D WAVEFORM DISPLAY(done, include some other views like POLAR view in addition to the iconics Fairlight ISO an LINEAR views)
PAGE F USER DEFINED FUNCTIONS(done but needs some GUI work)
Lot of things are added within the limitation of what the Fairlight could have done with some extra memory:
– FM Synthesis capabilities, including using waveform memory as a modulator.
– Spectrum Convolution (convolve between 2 spectrum)
– Spectrum Resynthesis manipulation(Harmonic Frequency bins offsets per Harmonic etc..)
– Two ways TimeStrech ( the CMI IIX allowed to increase the duration of the waveform memory only, now you can also reduce it)
